Traditional Braces
Braces consist of metal brackets that are bonded directly to the teeth and linked together by an archwire that runs through each one. This system applies gradual pressure to the teeth, encouraging them to move into their desired positions. Following treatment with braces, patients are given a retainer to wear to hold their teeth in their new positions.
Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Invisalign utilizes a system of clear aligners that are worn directly over the teeth. As patients advance through these sets of aligners, their teeth are shifted and moved around just as they would with traditional braces. However, Invisalign comes with the added benefit of being much more discreet and comfortable than metal brackets and wires.
MEAW Braces
Dr. Herrera believes in offering the best methods of straightening teeth and correcting bite issues. This is why she uses the MEAW or Multi Loop Edgewise Arch Wire process. This approach is more effective, faster than traditional orthodontic methods, and can even correct some bite issues that otherwise would require surgery.
To put it simply, MEAW utilizes braces, custom-formed loop archwires, and elastics to guide the teeth into their correct positions. Braces on their own can correct misaligned teeth and jaws, but if the jaw misalignment is severe, braces may not be sufficient. While it’s often used to address severe cases of malocclusion, MEAW can also treat milder cases faster and more comfortably. It’s the perfect treatment for those patients seeking a non-invasive solution to achieve a harmonious bite as well as improved oral health.
